Vandens kelias

Tourist waterway through Lithuania and Poland via the Augustava and Nemunas Canal.

The project "Development of a common waterway connecting neighboring countries for sustainable tourism and cooperation" is implemented by the Nemunas Euroregion Association (until November 1, 2021, the project partner was the Marijampolė office of Nemunas Euroregion Public Enterprise), the Polish Society "Euroregion Niemen" (Suwalki) and the Lithuanian State Institution Directorate of Waterways. It is partially funded by the lcash teen pattiituano-polish cross-border cooperation program 2014-2020 and partners.

Its main objective is to create a tourist waterway (track) connecting Lithuania and Poland via the Augustava Canal and the Nemunas River in order to promote safer tourism and popularize sustainable visits to natural and cultural heritage sites, increase tourist flows and longer stays of tourists in border regions, and accelerate tourism after recovery from the pandemic.
